West Virginia Weather

West Virginia is located in the southern region of the United States in the Appalachian zone of the country. The climate in West Virginia is mostly humid subtropical but in towns with a higher altitude humid continental can also be observed. The type of weather that you will find depends on where you are going. If you are visiting low elevations you will find hot and humid summers with milder winters. If you are going to the higher elevations, such as the Snowshoe Mountains you will find mild summers and cool and very snowy winters. The eastern panhandle sees West Virginia weather which is hot enough to have subtropical plants grow there. In some cases needle palms can be found but not anywhere else in the state.
