The state of South Dakota is located in the Midwest of the US. Its climate is continental and four seasons can be observed when you are in the state. The winters are cold and dry while the summers are humid and hot. The state will see an average high temperature of 90 Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) during the summer though at night those temperatures can drop close to 60 Fahrenheit (15 Celsius). If you are traveling through South Dakota in the summer you may encounter a string of days over 100 Fahrenheit (38 Celsius). If you visit during the winter then you may find temperatures below freezing as an average. South Dakota weather can experience thunderstorms, hail storms and each year it will experience tornados.
